Protein mapping provides new insights into the aging brain

Researchers have investigated how the proteome of the brain endothelium of mice changes during the aging process. The team developed a proteomics-compatible enrichment protocol for mouse brain endothelial cells based on magnetically activated cell sorting. In this way, they were able to resolve the profiles of changes in protein abundances during the aging process and, as they say, capture processes that were not detected by transcriptome studies.
